The Gregory Brothers - Jingle Bells

"Christmas isn't a season, it's a feeling." -Edna Ferber

The Gregory Brothers make another happy song sad.

The Struts - Jingle Bells

I frikkin' love The Struts.

Check out this just released video.

Astrocolor - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

With a mellow electronic, ambient sound,

Astrocolor formed in Victoria, B.C. in 2015.

They plan on releasing a non-holiday album in 2017.

Puddles Pity Party - Christmas Time Is Here

Christmas time is here.

Let's kick off December with a little help from

the "sad clown with the golden voice."

David Bowie - Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy

David Bowie has died.

Below is the famous clip from a 1977

Bing Crosby Christmas Special.

Scott Weiland - Winter Wonderland

Former Stone Temple Pilots  frontman,

Scott Weiland, was found dead last night.

Here is a tune from what turns out to be his final solo album.

Ben E. King - The Christmas Song

Rest in peace,

Ben E. King.

Rawn, Dodger & Casey Lavere - We Three Kings

Posting We Three Kings on January 6th, for at least the third year now.

This one is probably a little weirder than you're used to.

Future Of Forestry - O Holy Night

Future Of Forestry is an ambient rock act from San Diego.

This is their epic performance of O Holy Night,

taken from the Live From The Solstice DVD.

Stellarscope - Silent Night

Philadelphia indie-rockers, Stellarscope, set the mood

with this dreamy version of Silent Night.

31 Things You Didn't Know About Holiday Songs

I want to hear the original version of #31.

Cocteau Twins - Wonderland & Frosty

Back in 1993 I was manager of a Musicland store in Illinois.

The record label rep from CEMA, who was well aware of my love for

wispy female vocals, slipped me this CD5. I still love these songs.

Poema - Wool Coats

The two sisters in Poema put out a real nice

five song Christmas EP back in 2010.

For a mellow start to your week:

And here is one you'll recognize, from the same album:

Echosmith - I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

Heavily influenced by the music of the eighties,
the four siblings who make up the alt-pop band Echosmith,

have put together a real nice version of this classic.

Earth, Wind & Fire - Winter Wonderland

For their 21st studio album, Earth, Wind & Fire

took the holiday road. I've been looking forward

to this one for a while now, and it doesn't disappoint.

The Layaways - O Christmas Tree

The Layaways, of Chicago, have several great Christmas tracks

to their credit. Many of them are free downloads at their website.

Two favorites of mine are this version of Silent Night,

and this one:

Tin Idols - Metal Kalikimaka

Based in Hawaii, Tin Idol Records has just released

a heavy metal Christmas album. You can listen to many of the tunes

at ReverbNation. I really like the cover of 2000 Miles.

Here's another. Don't let the slow start fool you.

Bad Santa and The Angry Elves - Frosty

This is a song about black magic.

Suitable for play at your Halloween party.

Check out more of their punk Christmas tunes at ReverbNation.

Leon Redbone - Frosty The Snowman

I just recently became aware of "Leon Day."

Leon is Noel spelled backwards,

and Leon Day is June 25th, the halfway mark to Christmas.

Leon Redbone has a whole album of Christmas tunes,

so I should be able to milk this gimmick for a few years.

Blondie - We Three Kings

Behold, there came wise men from the east.
